Do u have to change or fill the water for motor?

hi, this is a pretty stupid question sorry, but umm i was just filling my windshield water, and then i thought about the motor 1, i think its for going around the car motor and keeping it cool? idk if u ever have to change or fill it up, but ive had the car for like almost a year and havent touched that, and idk when the owner before me did lol, so if u some1 could tell me if i should fill it up? and how much? and do i use regular water or the all season water i use for my windshield? thxDo u have to change or fill the water for motor?
you use a mixture of water and coolant.

yes it should be checked, and completley flushed periodically.

if it hasn't been done the whole time you've had the car, i'd take it in and have it flushed... Doesn't cost alot..

Or if you tell us what kind of car... somebody could walk you through flushing yourself.Do u have to change or fill the water for motor?
as long as there are no leaks, you probably shouldn't need to refill your radiator for a couple years. it's self contained so it won't escape and you won't lose any to evaporation or antyhing like that.

and you can use water in summer time, but better to use anitfreeze/coolant if possible as the water can obviously freeze come winter time.

edit: as the next poster said it's a good idea to check it from time to time. they're 'supposed' to check it when they check your fluids during an oil change (unless you do it yourself). and some coolant/antifreeze are made to last years. the orange stuff that they put initially into General Motors vehichles has a life of up to 10 years according to the guidebook. The stuff you eventually replace it with (green) doesn't last so long.Do u have to change or fill the water for motor?
its best to check it from tome to timeDo u have to change or fill the water for motor?

Straight water is never a good idea. Antifreeze not only freezes at a lower temperature but also boils at a higher temperature. It will keep it from boiling and overheating too.
